FTMO vs MyFundedFutures
Which of these two is likelier to end your account, and why — compared rule by rule from what each firm publishes.
Short answer
- The drawdown works differently, and that is the difference that matters. FTMO's loss limit is fixed to your starting balance and never moves; MyFundedFutures' follows your equity tick by tick, unrealised profit included. MyFundedFutures: Open profit you give back raises that floor permanently, so it can breach you at a level that did not exist an hour earlier.
- MyFundedFutures sets no daily loss limit; FTMO caps a single day at 5%.
- Minimum trading days: FTMO 4 days, MyFundedFutures 1 day — this sets the earliest you can finish, however fast you hit the target.
- Overnight and weekend: FTMO lets you hold; MyFundedFutures requires you flat before the session closes, so a swing plan does not fit it.
- Entry cost: MyFundedFutures from $50, FTMO from $155.

| Evaluation Parameter | FTMO | MyFundedFutures |
|---|---|---|
| Asset Class / Market | CFD | FUTURES |
| Drawdown Calculation Type | Static Equity-Based Measured on equity — balance plus open trade P/L, swaps and commissions — so an open losing position can breach the limit before you ever close it. On the 2-Step the loss limit is fixed for the life of the account and never moves; FTMO's other programme uses a limit that trails your end-of-day balance upward at 00:00 CE(S)T and never moves back down. |
Intraday Trailing (Equity High-Water Mark) once funded Pro trails end-of-day in both stages and Builder's floor stops moving once it reaches $0 on the live account, but the firm counts open unrealised losses toward a breach even in the stages it labels end-of-day. On Rapid the max-loss line chases your live equity high, unrealised profit included, once you are funded; during the evaluation it only moves at the close. |
| Max Daily Loss | 5.0% 5% of your starting capital on the 2-Step, measured on equity, with the limit reset at 00:00 CE(S)T; FTMO's other programme uses a different percentage that we could not independently confirm. |
None (No Daily Limit) |
| Max Overall Loss | 10.0% 10% of your starting capital, measured on equity, and the same figure on both of FTMO's programmes. |
4.0% 4% is the $25K and $50K accounts ($1,000 and $2,000); the $100K and $150K accounts stop at $3,000 and $4,500, which is 3%. |
| Profit Split | 80% - 90% | 90% - 100% |
| Minimum Trading Days | 4 Days 4 trading days on each phase of the 2-Step Challenge and Verification; whether it applies on FTMO's other programmes was not independently confirmed. |
1 Days |
| News Trading Policy | ✓ On a funded Standard account you cannot open or close a trade within 2 minutes before or after selected news releases; Swing accounts are exempt, and the restriction does not apply during the Challenge or Verification for either account type | ✓ News trading fully permitted during open market sessions |
| Weekend & Overnight Holding | ✓ Permitted (Swing accounts may hold over the weekend at any stage; Standard accounts are unrestricted during the Challenge and Verification but must be flat before the weekend close once funded) | ✗ Flat by Close (Futures day trading only; open positions are auto-closed at 4:10 PM EST (New York session close) on regular days, but on holiday half-sessions that auto-close does not fire and you must flatten yourself or the account is breached) |
| Supported Platforms | MT4, MT5, cTrader, TradingView | Tradovate, TradingView, NinjaTrader, Quantower, Fintevo, Deep Chart |
| Payout Schedule | Bi-weekly (Every 14 days) or on-demand Payouts are on demand from the 14-day mark onward, not a forced fortnightly cycle. |
Daily — every 24 hours once funded and above the buffer Rapid pays out every qualifying trading day; Pro pays bi-weekly and Builder every 48 hours while sim-funded, daily once live. |
| First Payout Eligibility | 14 days from first placed trade You can claim on the 14th day after your first placed trade or any day after it, with roughly 1-2 business days to review and 1-2 more to pay. |
No fixed waiting period; payable as soon as the realised-profit buffer is cleared ($2,100 on the $50K account) Pro instead unlocks at 14 days from your first trade or when the buffer clears, whichever is later, and Builder needs the buffer plus 2 qualifying days plus $500 of net profit above it ($250 on the $25K account). |
| Consistency Rule | No restrictive consistency rule True for the 2-Step; FTMO's newer programme carries a different rule that our checker could not confirm, so do not read this as covering every FTMO account. |

What can end the account even if you are profitable
These are the rules people usually find out about after a payout is refused.
- FTMO: Once you are funded on a Standard account, you cannot open or close a trade within 2 minutes either side of a selected news release — a stop-loss or take-profit that fires inside that window counts too — and FTMO can terminate the account for it. source
- FTMO: On a funded Standard account you must close your positions shortly before the market closes for the weekend, and before any rollover or market break lasting more than 2 hours, or you break the account's rules. source
- FTMO: You cannot spread one position across correlated instruments or hold opposing trades just to make your daily profits look evenly spread — FTMO calls that artificially distributing profit without distributing risk, and it can delete the trades, fail you, cancel your payout or close your account. source
- FTMO: You cannot trade off price-feed glitches, display errors or delayed quotes, and FTMO says this counts against you even if you did it without realising, with the same penalties up to termination. source
- FTMO: You cannot let anyone else access or trade your account, trade someone else's account, or coordinate trades between your connected accounts or with other traders in your Program Group for manipulative purposes — FTMO can terminate every agreement you hold with them. source
- FTMO: If FTMO decides you broke any of these rules it can forfeit a payout you have already earned, not just close the account — so being profitable does not protect the money until it is paid. source
- FTMO: You cannot request your first payout until the 14th day after your first placed trade, however fast you hit the target. source
- MyFundedFutures: Once you are funded on Rapid or Pro you may not hold a position or leave any order sitting in the market, resting limit orders included, from two minutes before a Tier-1 release to two minutes after it — FOMC meetings and minutes, the Employment Report and CPI, plus EIA numbers for energy traders and the Agricultural reports for grain traders — so a release at 8:30 means flat by 8:28:00 and nothing back on until 8:32:00; the same trade is allowed on evaluations and on Builder accounts, and the firm's page states the ban without spelling out the penalty. source
- MyFundedFutures: You may not copy another trader by entering, exiting or cancelling positions in step with them, the way signal and mentorship groups often do, and the firm can permanently bar you from its services for it rather than just voiding the trades. source
- MyFundedFutures: You may not hold a buy and a sell on the same underlying market at the same time — being long Micro Nasdaq while short E-mini Nasdaq counts as the same market — and the firm treats it as a fair-play violation that can end your agreement and confiscate your profits. source
- MyFundedFutures: High-frequency trading is banned on every plan with no published speed or frequency threshold to measure yourself against, and being flagged for it can terminate your agreement, confiscate your profits and fail your evaluation. source
- MyFundedFutures: You must trade from a device no other trader uses — a mentor and student sharing one laptop, phone or tablet breaks the rule — and it is treated as a prohibited practice that can permanently restrict the accounts involved. source
- MyFundedFutures: If an order is rejected around the 4:10 PM EST close, do not keep resubmitting it: one of those retries occasionally fills after the close, and the firm disqualifies the account for it even though you never meant to trade late. source
- MyFundedFutures: On holiday-shortened trading days the automatic 4:10 PM EST flatten does not run, so you have to close your own positions before the early close or the account is breached. source
- MyFundedFutures: On the Builder plan you cannot request your first payout until you have cleared the buffer ($2,100, or $1,600 with the add-on, on the $50K account), traded on at least 2 qualifying days, and banked at least $500 of net profit on top of that buffer ($250 on the $25K account) — there is no fixed date at which it simply becomes available. source
Drawdown Architecture: FTMO vs MyFundedFutures
The fundamental differentiator between FTMO and MyFundedFutures lies in how risk and liquidation thresholds are tracked:
FTMO: Static Equity-Based
FTMO applies a Static Equity-Based approach. Under this structure, your stop loss floor is anchored to balance intervals. This ensures that temporary floating open profits do not pull your stop loss floor higher in real-time.
MyFundedFutures: Intraday Trailing (Equity High-Water Mark) once funded
MyFundedFutures implements a Intraday Trailing (Equity High-Water Mark) once funded model. Open equity peaks will instantly adjust your maximum loss threshold tick-by-tick.
